Cost & truly free

Is there a truly free water tracker?

Yes. habit24 is a free water tracker that lets you track your daily water intake with no payment, no subscription and no hidden costs. The app runs right in the browser and on your phone (as an installable PWA) and needs no app-store download. You set your daily goal and check off every glass.

What is the best free water tracker?

The best free water tracker is an app that stays free for good, doesn't bother you with ads and works on every device. habit24 does exactly that: free, ad-free, usable as a web app and an installable PWA on iOS and Android. You set a personal daily goal and see your progress instantly as a daily overview.

Does habit24 cost anything?

No. habit24 is completely free for private users. There's no subscription, no in-app purchases and no paywall for the water tracker. The project is run privately. If you'd like to use habit24 commercially you can contact the operator — private use stays unaffected and free.

Block B

Features & usage

How does a water tracker work?

A water tracker records how much you drink during the day and compares it with your daily goal. With habit24 you set your goal in milliliters or glasses and tap a plus button after each drink. A daily bar instantly shows how much is left.

How much water should I drink per day?

Germany's nutrition society (DGE) recommends adults drink around 1.5 liters of water per day from beverages, depending on body weight, activity and weather. habit24 lets you set your personal goal freely, so you can also reflect higher amounts during sport or heat. Default values are only a guide.

Can I set my own daily drinking goal?

Yes. With habit24 you set your daily goal individually — as a milliliter amount or a number of glasses. The goal can be adjusted any time, e.g. for training days or hot summer days. The tracker automatically converts your progress into a percentage, so you see at a glance how much is left.

Does habit24 remind me to drink?

Yes. habit24 can remind you to drink via push notifications once you install the app on your home screen. The reminders help turn drinking into a solid habit — following the principle "constant dripping wears away the stone": small, regular sips instead of rare large amounts.

Block C

Tech, devices & privacy

Do I need an app from the App Store to track my water intake?

No. habit24 is a Progressive Web App (PWA) and runs right in the browser. You can install it via "Add to Home Screen" like a normal app — entirely without the App Store or Google Play. That saves storage and works the same on iPhone, Android and desktop.

Does the water tracker also work offline?

Yes, for the core features. As a PWA, habit24 stores key views locally, so you can log your water intake even without an internet connection. Once you're back online, the data is synced. That way you never miss an entry, e.g. on the go or in a dead zone.

Is a free water tracker privacy-compliant?

With habit24, yes. The app is operated in Germany and complies with the GDPR. An email address is all you need to register; your account can be fully deleted at any time. No drinking data is sold to ad networks — the project is not financed through advertising.

Which devices does habit24 run on?

habit24 runs on any device with a modern browser: iPhone, iPad, Android phones, Windows PC and Mac. As an installable PWA it behaves like a native app with its own icon on the home screen. An account syncs your data across devices, so you switch seamlessly between phone and desktop.

Block D

Comparison

What's the difference between a water tracker and a habit tracker?

A water tracker specifically counts your water intake; a habit tracker follows any habits. habit24 is both: you can add "drink water" as a daily habit and track other goals like sport or reading at the same time. Streak counters and statistics apply to all habits, not just drinking.

Why are many free water trackers plastered with ads?

Many free apps finance themselves with embedded ads or by selling user data. habit24 takes a different approach: it's a privately run project without ad financing, so it's ad-free and sells no data. If you'd like to use it commercially you can contact the operator — for private users it stays free.

Can I analyze my drinking progress over weeks and months?

Yes. habit24 shows your history as a calendar heatmap and as a weekly or monthly chart. That way you spot patterns — e.g. which days you miss your goal. A streak counter counts your consecutive days, which is proven to boost motivation to keep a habit going.

Still have questions?

habit24 is a private project — open to improvements and criticism. Try the free water tracker right in your browser or write to us.
